Homemade Taco Seasoning

My family loves tacos.  I love tacos too because It is a quick meal I can whip up for unexpected dinner guests.  We like it because each of us can customize our taco the way we like them.  My husband likes ketchup on his.  My kids like them with black olives and cheese.  I like mine like this:  a lettuce "shell"  and a few tomatoes.  If I'm really crazy I'll add sour cream and black olives and maybe; just maybe some cheddar cheese.
The lettuce gives my taco some crunch.

But when you look at the ingredients on the back of a taco seasoning packet, there are a lot of ingredients I'm not sure I want my kids eating... like Maltodextrin, Monosodium Glutamate, Silicon Dioxide?  No way!  I decided to make my own taco seasoning and it is delicious!

Most of the ingredients you need are already in your spice cabinet.
You measure it out;

pour it in a bowl;

mix it with a spoon; and

store it in an airtight container until ready to use.
A few caveats:  This makes approximately what comes in a pre-measured taco seasoning package you find at the grocery store.  Depending on how spicy you and your guests like their food, use as little or as much as you want.  Buen Provecho!

  1. I'll make this the second I get through my Costco container of Taco Seasoning. 2021?

    It really is good. Ours was a little spicy. Delish.
